About Gainesville Reads: Gainesville Reads is a month-long, citywide reading festival hosted by The Lynx Books. Each year, the festival builds a wide array of programming around a single book, encouraging as many people as possible to read and engage with it. This year's book is We're Alone by Haitian-American author Edwidge Danticat, an essay collection that explores immigration, incarceration, displacement, gun violence, and resilience, issues deeply relevant both locally and nationally. Through free, accessible programming, including art workshops, public-facing lectures, concerts, and book club discussions, Gainesville Reads fosters public dialogue and builds community connection.
