Graywolf Test Kitchen: Drinking with Poets

At Graywolf we look for any reason to celebrate with snacks (if you follow us on Twitter you already know how much we love donuts), but an office visit by Sophie Cabot Black and Brian Russell, who were in town for the Graywolf Poetry Tour, demanded something more. Willa Cather’s Kolaches

For the second installation of the Graywolf Test Kitchen, we set out to make plum kolaches according to Willa Cather’s recipe. The kolache is a pastry with fruit filling. Cather learned to make kolaches from her Czech neighbor in Nebraska, Annie Pavelka, who was also the inspiration for Ántonia in My Ántonia.
