"Saskia Hamilton is not a quiet poet, just an extremely subtle and
fierce one. There is a quality of spiritual stubbornness and
astonishing resilience that courses through even her briefest
utterances...." —Jorie Graham |

The poems in As for Dream witness our encounters with boundaries
that we cannot cross. In these brief, haunting lyrics, Hamilton refines
what we hear as the breath of the human “voice” and its connection and
disconnection from the human body in crisis. She studies instances when
the sleeper leaves the dream world, when the well tend to the sick,
when the living follow the dying to the door and watch them shut it.
Hamilton renders internal states with disarming accuracy, recording
moments when the self journeys just over those frontiers—slipping from
the casing of the body and the social world—and returns, perhaps
changed, or finds it cannot.
